Full description
- Balaton Lake is 77 kms long and is the largest fresh-water lake of Central Europe. It is an ideal choice if you want to experience the Hungarian countryside. The beauty of the nature, the great gastronomy, the fresh wines, the charm of the villages and the historical and architectural heritage of the region are all good reasons to visit this unique place.
You will be picked up at your hotel at 9.00 am. Lake Balaton can be reached in an 80 to 90 minutes drive from Budapest. Around 10. 30 am you'll take the ferry from the southern shore of the lake to the northern shore. The ferry ride takes 10 minutes.
The Tihanyi Peninsula is the settlement you will visit first. After admiring the breathtaking panorama and visiting the village, you will head to Balatonfüred, the capital of the northern shore. You will walk along the pretty promenade and observe the beautiful villas and mansions.
Your day at Balaton lake will be completed by a visit to a winery with an amazing view over the Balaton. There, you will be able to taste 5 to 7 very good wines of the region accompanied by a very good Hungarian cold plate of the winery (cheeses, local ham, sausage and bacon, vegetables, fresh bread).
At the end of the day, you will be driven back to your hotel in Budapest.
